Characteristics of PN Grantees

In a recent blog post encouraging communities to continue their local efforts, the Department of Education released its own analysis of the Promise Neighborhood grantees, which can be accessed here. Some highlights include: grantees leverage nearly $7 million in match, including $2.3 million in private support; 2/3rds of grantees focused planning efforts on a persistently lowest-achieving school; and 90% of Promise Neighborhood schools are "traditional," non-charter schools. The Department also announced that it will be releasing more information on the scoring of applicants in the next weeks.

Recently, the Department also hosted a live chat Q&A regarding the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative and Promise Neighborhoods. Clips can be accessed here.
