2009 American Community Survey Poverty Data Released

The Census Bureau has released the 2009 American Community Survey providing communities with a "fresh look" into how they are changing. Unlike the 2010 Census data, the nationwide American Community Survey(ACS) is based on monthly sample survey data collected in 2009. The Census Bureau then releases 1-year ACS data for areas with a population of 65,000 or more. By reviewing the ACS briefs, communities can find information on a broad range of community characteristics divided into demographic, social, housing, and economic topic areas. For example, communities can find data on home values or commute times to work.
