DOJ Grant to Support Youth Reentry

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is seeking applications for the Juvenile Mentoring Initiative, authorized through the Second Chance Act. State agencies, units of local government, institutes of higher education, and private and nonprofit organizations are invited to apply. The grant will provide funding to develop, implement, and expand mentoring programs and transition services for youth returning to their communities. The maximum award is $625,000 for up to 3 years, subject to appropriations. The grant does require a 25% match of cash or in kind contributions as the federal funds awarded may not cover more than 75% of the total costs of the project.  Applications are due May 2, 2011.
