Youth Service America and Sodexo Foundation are now accepting applications for the Sodexo Foundation School Engagement Grant Initiative. K-12 educators are invited to apply for the grant, which funds service-learning programs that educate and engage students in the fight against childhood hunger in communities.
Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that combines meaningful service to the community with acquisition of academic learning and skills. Schools and organizations use service-learning as a strategy to support student learning, academic achievement and workplace readiness, as youth address real problems and improve communities. The Sodexo School Engagement Grants program incorporates service-learning into a Semester of Service framework that engages students in a minimum of 70 hours of service and learning over a period of at least 10 -14 weeks.
Successful grantees will receive a $5,000 grant award to support the design and implementation of their program, as well as documenting and sharing outcomes.
