On Tuesday, February 19, Justice Matters, an organization working to build a racial justice movement focused on transforming education, will host a webinar on approaches to engaging parents. Entitled "Broadening Parental Engagement: Valuing, strengthening, and empowering communities of color," the webinar will explore parental engagement strategies that go beyond merely providing volunteer opportunities or PTA involvement. In particular, the webinar will describe the experience of Chicago's Telpochcalli School and their Telphochcalli Community Education Project (TCEP), which uses the school as a hub for connecting families in addition to providing them with a wide array of valuable services and training.

Webinar presenters include:
  • Tamara Witzl, Principal, Telpochcalli School;
  • Maria Velazquez, Director, Telpochcalli Community Education Program;
  • Esperanza Emiliano, Telpochcalli Parent, TCEP Volunteer;
  • Amina Luqman-Dawson, Senior Policy Strategist, Justice Matters
The webinar will take place on Tuesday, February 19 from 4:30-5:30pm ET. You can register for the webinar by visiting here.
