The webinar will help leaders who are planning a Promise Neighborhood or similar community change effort in understanding key considerations to make when thinking about financial sustainability and concrete strategies that one community has used to move from talk to action, though the presentation might also be of interest to those who have begun implementation. Ample time will be provided for participants to ask questions.
Key questions to be addressed include:
- Why is it important to think about sustainability in the planning phase? What does planning for sustainability from “Day 1” look like?
- How can we approach planning so that we can move forward with or without a federal Promise Neighborhoods implementation grant and with varying levels of local/private support?
- Beyond a federal implementation grant, what are examples of additional funding sources (federal, state, and local) that can be “braided” or redirected to support comprehensive community change work like Promise Neighborhoods?
- How can my community use early performance data to make the case for additional investment in our Promise Neighborhood?
This event will feature the following
presenters:
- Victoria Wegener, Partner, Mainspring Consulting
- Deycy Hernandez, Director, Promesa Boyle Heights at Proyecto Pastoral
Mainspring
Consulting works with community and state leaders, policymakers and
foundation officers to design effective programs and initiatives for children,
families and communities, develop sound strategies to leverage resources, and
create effective plans to move from good thinking to action. Mainspring has
experience engaging with a wide variety of community leaders, including those
from Promise Neighborhoods, on issues such as the development of financing
plans and strategies, including the projection of costs and identification of
new sources of revenue.
Promesa Boyle
Heights at Proyecto Pastoral is a Promise Neighborhood located in
Los Angeles, CA. The community received a planning grant from the U.S.
Department of Education in FY 2010 and has continued working with its partners
to implement key parts of its pipeline and realize its vision for a Promise
Neighborhood.
The webinar will take place on Monday,
September 8 from 1:00 - 2:30pm ET. To register for the webinar, please go here.
