Rural Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Grants Deadline Approaching

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering grant awards for the Rural Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing program. The purpose of the program is to enhance the capacity and the ability of local governments, Indian tribes, housing development organizations, rural CDC’s, and CHDOs for community development and affordable housing activities that benefit low- and moderate-income families living in rural areas.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit entities with experience in rural housing and experience in working with rural housing organizations, local governments, and Indian tribes. Priority will be given to organizations that can demonstrate the program’s two policy priorities of promoting economic development and economic resilience and increasing energy efficiency and the health and safety of homes.

The program is awarding a total of $5,000,000, with a minimum award of $500,000 and maximum award of $2,500,000. The application deadline is on September 19, 2014.
