Coalition for Community Schools Hosts Community Schools and Community Organizing Webinar

The Coalition for Community Schools will host a Community Schools and Community Organizing webinar for organizers to learn about organizing campaigns across the country.The Coalition for Community Schools, housed at the Institute for Educational Leadership, is an alliance of national, state and local organizations in education K-16, youth development, community planning and development, family support, health and human services, government and philanthropy as well as national, state and local community school networks.

Webinar participants will hear from organizers and parent leaders in New York City who lead the organizing efforts that resulted in the city's recent commitment to 128 new community schools. Presenters will talk about the coalitions that were formed, the impact they had on the current mayor's education agenda, and the follow-up efforts to ensure successful implementation, including a new community schools policy to help ensure quality and sustainability of the city's community schools.
