CSSP’s Strengthening Families
team and United Way Worldwide are
hosting a webinar on the Early Development Instrument (EDI) – a valuable tool
that provides policymakers with information about the development of children
in their communities.
Across the country, states, localities and programs are
using the Strengthening Families framework to build protective
factors that promote optimal child development. To support this work, the EDI helps communities track child development and school readiness. As a population-based measure, the EDI reports
development data by school and geographic area, providing policymakers and
stakeholders with local information on the strengths and vulnerabilities of
children. The EDI data is used to
mobilize and engage local leaders around a data‐driven and action‐oriented
process to inform local planning and improvement activities focused on the
needs of young children in the context of their community. The EDI data helps
early childhood coalitions look back to assess how to better support school
readiness and to look forward to plan programs and improve systems that will
help children succeed in the early elementary grades and beyond.
The webinar – Using
the Early Development Instrument (EDI) and Strengthening Families to Promote
Optimal Child Development – is scheduled for Thursday, January 12th from 2pm-3pm (EST). To register for the webinar, please click here.
