Land O'Lakes Supports Grants for Rural Communities

The Land O’Lakes Foundation has announced funding to support projects that benefit rural communities.

The Land O’Lakes Foundation recognizes that rural communities are often disconnected from funding opportunities and, as a result,  works to improve the vitality and growth of these communities through the Community Grants program. The 2013 Community Grants program will support local organizations that are working to address several issues, including hunger, youth and education, civic improvement and arts and culture, in rural communities. With a particular focus on communities where a significant concentration of Land o’Lakes employees reside, funding will support community efforts in the following states: Arkansas, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Grant awards will range from $500 to $25,000. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that are located within the 20 states mentioned above. Application due dates vary by issue addressed and are as follows:
  • April 1, 2013: Education Proposals
  • July 1, 2013: Hunger Proposals
  • October 1, 2013: All other proposals
